01 Why do I need identity theft protection?
The method by which banks and lending institutions authenticate identity when opening and/or maintaining accounts has changed over the years and should be of vital importance to you as a consumer. The social security number was never intended to be an “authenticator” for this purpose. But, over the years, that is exactly what it has become. As a result, it has become increasingly more popular among thieves to steal that personal identifying information and embark upon the task of stealing money in a new way. That is, by stealing your identity.
Statistics have proven that identity theft takes place about every 3.1 seconds in America today, and is growing each year. It is a life changing and personally invasive crime that will cost you more than money. Therefore, unlike your fingerprints which are unique to you and cannot be used without your permission, your personal data (especially your name, date of birth, Social Security number) can be stolen and used to personally profit at your expense. Without protection like that offered by NAMESAFE™, you could become one of those statistics.
02 How is NAMESAFE™ different from credit monitoring or recovery services?
Credit monitoring services simply monitor your credit and advise you of changes to your credit report. However, due to the time frame by which the Credit Bureaus are notified, monitoring services are of little effect in “preventing” identity theft. In fact, by the time an unauthorized account makes it on your report the damage has been done, and the identity thief is usually long gone. The credit monitoring services will not notify you at the time the account is being established, and they do not do anything to repair the damage once it has been done.
Recovery services, on the other hand, simply assist you after a theft has taken place. They also do nothing to prevent the crime from happening.
NAMESAFE™ helps you establish alerts that will require that you be notified at the time the account is being established so that you can prevent it from ever going on your credit report. NAMESAFE™ also has a Service Guarantee that protects you and pays up to $1,000,000 to cure a breach, should one occur, while you are a NAMESAFE™ client. (See our complete Service Guarantee for Specific details).
With NAMESAFE™ you get the best of both worlds. While the NAMESAFE™ service is NOT insurance, it provides a service that leads to the warnings of an elite monitoring service BEFORE the theft occurs, and provides a Service Guarantee that will pay for the recovery of your good name should in the unlikely event that you do become a victim.
03 How much does NAMESAFE™ cost?
Adults (age 18 and older) are $9.95 per person per month or $99 per year. Children under 18 years of age are $2.99 per child per month or $29.00 per year. Of course, minors must be signed up by a parent or guardian.
04 Does the bank have my personal cell phone or home number?
No. At NAMESAFE™ we believe that you should not have to compromise your privacy for protection. Therefore, unlike our competitors, NAMESAFE™ desires to protect your private phone numbers. If you receive a phone call because someone is attempting to use your identity, the call to your phone from the vendor will be routed through a NAMESAFE™ number but forwarded directly to you with no middle person. The vendor never has access to your personal phone numbers unless you decide to give them out. But you still have the ability to speak directly to the clerk opening the account so that you can personally explain that you either are, or are not, opening the account.
05 Will I be able to talk with a live person confirming my account?
Yes. Unlike some monitoring services and some of our competitors, you will receive a direct call from the person opening the account. We merely send the call through our phone system and forward it to you so that your private numbers remain private. This has the additional benefit of you being able to program the NAMESAFE™ number in your phone so you will always know when you are receiving a call to confirm a credit account.
06 Will the identity thief be arrested?
In some cases, yes. That is one of our ultimate goals at NAMESAFE™. Clearly, our first objective is to protect you and your good name. Our next priority is to cause the arrest of the predators responsible for the fastest growing crime in America.
07 What if someone is arrested for attempting to steal my identity?
Call 1-866-NAMESAFE (626-3723) and notify us (immediately after the local law enforcement authorities have been contacted). We will assign a licensed attorney and a member of our prosecution team at NAMESAFE™ to assist you with the prosecution of that person or persons. We will even be present with you at all critical court appearances so you never have to go through that alone. None of our competitors do this. Period.
08 How do I cancel NAMESAFE™ if I decided not to continue using the service?
Although we hate to lose a good client, cancellations are simple. Just call 1-866-NAMESAFE (626-3723) and tell the representative you wish to cancel. You will receive an email confirmation of such to the email address we have on file.
Having said that, we believe that once you try our service and have the peace of mind that NAMESAFE™ gives, you will never want to go back to being unprotected. We strive to make sure our service is competitively priced, yet exceedingly superior to any other service in the industry. We are certain you will agree.
09 What should I do AFTER I enroll for NAMESAFE™?
Relax and know that NAMESAFE™ has got your back. Having said that, we want you to know that you should never drop your guard, and you should never be foolish with your personal information or allow it to be unnecessarily published or displayed.
No one is immune from this crime.
But that does not mean that we are “powerless”!
